Vacuum Technician (m/f), ref. CDD/Vacuum

The Vacuum Group is in charge of providing specific technical support for the ESRF accelerators and experimental stations (beamlines). A physical vapor deposition (PVD) facility is operated by the Vacuum Group to apply surface treatments to the inner surfaces of ultra high vacuum chambers. The PVD facility will be extended for increased capacity. ESRF is now seeking a technician to assist in the installation and commissioning of the new PVD facility. Once the facility is commissioned, you will work with the new tool for series-like production of vacuum chamber coatings. You will furthermore be in charge of editing process records and quality assurance documents for traceability of the work. Besides these specific tasks you will provide assistance for troubleshooting and leak detection. You will work under the supervision of the PVD NEG coating team leader.

This position requires:

• proven experience in Ultra High Vacuum techniques like assembly of vacuum chambers, use of vacuum pumps and gauges and assurance of pollution-free working conditions,
• knowledge in electrical cabling and electrical safety for the preparation of bake-out of vacuum chambers and substrate heating during deposition operation,
• documentation skills for recording quality documents of the coating process,
• expertise in reading and understanding technical drawings.
