Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East

SESAME is the first major international research centre for the Middle East and neighbouring regions. It is a cooperative venture by the scientists and governments of the region, and was established under the auspices of UNESCO. SESAME is located in Allan, Jordan (30 km from Amman and 30 km from the King Hussein/ Allenby Bridge crossing of the Jordan River). SESAME’s members are Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey. The facility was officially opened by His Royal Highness King Abdullah II on 16 May 2017.
