We propose a two days hands-on tutorial on three well established codes for simulating synchrotron radiation sources and beamline optics: McXtrace , SHADOW  and SRW .
The course will provide an overview of the three codes. Basic simulations of a common synchrotron beamline configuration will be performed with every code. This will include, for example, an undulator source, compound-refractive lens, and a mirror microfocusing system (Kirkpatrick-Baez). The specific particularities of each code makes them well adapted for particular applications. The course will point out on the complementary of these freely-available tools for modeling synchrotron beamlines.
The course is free and it is open for scientists, engineers and students working in relation with synchrotron radiation. The audience will be limited to 20 places, in a first come, first served basis. Participants should come with their own laptops, we provide the software and related material, but no computers are provided by us. The attendees from outside the ESRF will cover their meals and organize their own hosting (a limited number of placed will be available at the ESRF guesthouse).
