Schools and Training Sites
  • CERN Accelerator School
The CERN Accelerator School holds training courses for accelerator physicists and engineers twice a year. The courses take place in conference centres in different member states of CERN and consist of a programme of lectures and tutorials spread over a period of one or two weeks.

  • DESY Summer Student Programme
Each summer DESY offers undergraduate students in physics or related natural science disciplines the possibility to participate in the research activities of the laboratory. Deadline for applications is usually January 31.

  • HERCULES
HERCULES (Higher European Research Course for Users of Large Experimental Systems) celebrated its 15th anniversary and its 1000th participant in 2005. This five week (usually end of February to beginning of April) European course aims to train young scientists in the use of large instruments by providing a general overview of the techniques and scientific possibilities associated with neutrons and synchrotron radiation to investigate condensed matter or biomedical topics.

  • Illinois Institute of Technology
IIT offers three new master's programs:
Master of Biomedical Imaging and Signals
    Master of Power Engineering
    Master of VLSI and Microelectronics

  • Joint Universities Accelerator School
Each year JUAS provides a foundation course on accelerator physics and associated technologies.

  • LNLS Summer School Program
The Brazilian Syncrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) offers a Summer School Program yearly, with the objective to encourage young under-graduate students to scientific research and technological development.

  • MAX-lab Master Program: Synchrotron radiation based science
The program is open to all students with a Bachelor in natural sciences. After an introduction, a more thorough understanding of common scientific areas will be given and a possibility to complement important courses. An independent project is started early to rapidly get in contact with the research groups. A large part of the program is elective to be able to direct your education towards your own goal.

  • MAXLAS: Marie Curie Early Stage Training Site, where European PhD-students are trained in laser and accelerator physics.

  • The US Particle Accelerator School
The US Particle Accelerator School provides educational programs in the field of beams and their associated accelerator technologies not otherwise available to the community of science and technology.

  • xafs.org: Workshops, Short Courses, and Conferences for XAFS
