National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) University of Science and Technology China (USTC) The National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) is the first dedicated synchrotron radiation facility in China, located in the west campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei city, Anhui Province. The synchrotron radiation facility, the Hefei Light Source (HLS), is mainly composed of an 800 MeV electron storage ring and a 200 MeV Linac functioning as its injector. In order to increase the photon energy, a 6 Tesla superconducting wiggler was inserted in the storage ring. By the end of 1999, NSRL had equipped six experimental stations available for research on photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray lithography, soft X-ray microscopy, time-resolved VUV spectroscopy, photochemistry and XAFS (X-ray Absorption Fine Structure), respectively. Among them the XAFS beamline and experimental station are newly completed and open for users by using the wiggler radiation.
